So at the beginning of the year I vowed we would make more of an effort in Art this year - for a start, just actually doing it gets a pat on the back! I'm aiming for incorporating this as a natural part of our week every day in some way, but for now, once a week is a good enough start!

So one of the things we've done is these lovely little Ndebele huts (am I perhaps a little homesick?!), which I might add has been splattered across many days! I'm not quite sure how to begin and complete an Art project in one sitting yet! These were prompted by starting Houses and Homes in our Sonlight curriculum (Core B), and then I stumbled across two inspirational blogs

First up, this lovely blog, Adventures of an Art Teacher, who helps you to get an idea of what to do with ideas of the outside of the huts, as well as the inside. (and this wonderful resource for understanding the how and why of painted Ndebele homes) And then dear old Se7en +1 had this lovely post from a while back, which stimulated me and led us into the project...(ooh and we found these lovely printables here of South African homes...)

Then a few days later...

This really is a journey, and one I am enjoying!

One Response so far.
