Ever wonder what on earth to look for at your local library? I love it when friends mention good reads they've found, and thought I'd share with you the latest treasures we've enjoyed....

Loved this book dubbed "everything you need to know about South Africa". As a foreigner here, I have so many questions about this nations history and its people - and although this is a children's book, I happily read it one afternoon on the couch, and learnt a great deal. I love it's illustrations and the breadth of topics it covered.

This is such a lovely read  - not only if you are investigating butterflies, their metamorphosis or migration, but also if you have a sibling who is feeling overshadowed by older siblings. There are a whole range of activities based on the book over here, if you'd like to use it as a springboard into creative writing, maths or life sciences. This book has been produced as a play as well.

Perhaps it's because Jacqui Taylor is Zimbabwean, but her work is inspirational! We love her poems and her quirky illustrations! We own An African ABC and The Queen of Green too, and they are very well loved books!

We loved the story in this book, Maths Together: No Problem, in fact had to read it TWICE in the first sitting alone! I loved how the story illustrates thinking skills necessary for maths - I don't think I've ever read a maths story book before!
(You can read the book online over at Google Books - click here)

Happy Library Time!
